Guillermo Ramasasa is an accomplished Salvadoran/Filipino American clarinetist based in the London area, recognized for his pursuit of the highest standards of musicianship across a diverse repertoire. His focus primarily lies in orchestral performance, yet he equally engages as a soloist and chamber musician, displaying adeptness in contemporary, jazz, and traditional genres.
Originating from Las Vegas and relocating to Denver in 2014 to pursue his Bachelor's degree, Ramasasa boasts an extensive performance history with esteemed ensembles such as the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, and more. During his time at the University of Denver, he secured a position with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, a professional ensemble in Boulder, CO, further expanding his global performance experiences. Following his dedication to musical excellence, Ramasasa furthered his studies in London, obtaining a Master of Arts in Clarinet with honors from the Royal Academy of Music in 2020. His time in the UK facilitated collaborations with renowned groups including the London Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, and The Philharmonia Orchestra. Notably, he was honored with a fellowship role in the Southbank Sinfonia in 2020 and presently contributes his talents to professional performances throughout the UK, also serving as a DEBUT Horizon Artist, delivering recitals in prominent London venues. Beyond his performing prowess, Ramasasa is an enthusiastic and proficient educator across multiple instruments, currently holding teaching positions in various London schools, associating with the Richmond Music Trust as an Associate Teacher, and managing his own selective private studio catering to local students. His global presence extends to participation in esteemed music festivals including the Domaine Forget International Music Festival in Canada, where he earned a distinguished scholarship for subsequent summers. Noteworthy accolades adorn his career, including recognition as a Presser Undergraduate Music Scholar through the Presser Foundation and the Lamont School of Music, along with accolades for outstanding recitals via the Mary Marr Foundation. Ramasasa's performances have graced prestigious venues worldwide, encompassing Carnegie Hall, The Barbican Centre, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and numerous locations across the United States, Canada, China, Italy, and the UK. Benefiting from the mentorship of esteemed clarinet maestros in various master classes, Ramasasa completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Lamont School of Music, University of Denver, under the tutelage of Jeremy Reynolds. His pursuit of excellence continued with his Master of Arts from the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying under the guidance of Chi Yu Mo, Chris Richards, Benjamin Mellefont, among others. |
